Malaga was a bit of a surprise. We took a 1/2 day shore excursion to one of the white villages. It was awful. It rained – a lot. I got into a disagreement with the guide. But in the end – we got off in Malaga and found it to be a great port to visit. I thought it would be too big and too busy, but we enjoyed it. While we wound up short of time we were still able to take in the awesome catheral. I think it’s called the one armed lady – because the second tower was never finished. Then we took in the Alcazaba. Very interesting Moorish ruins. While not the Alhambra – it is still impressive and worth a visit.

Malaga – Rather a large city – its size kind of scared us off. But honestly – if you get the chance to visit on a cruise – I wouldn’t waste your time going somewhere outside of the city. There’s plenty to see and do within walking distance. The cathedral and the Alcazaba are very much worth the time.

Alcazaba – this is a little jewel. The Alhambra gets all the press (and I’m sure it’s well deserved). But for a quick shore visit – the Alcazaba is worth time and effort. It’s kept up almost as a garden with all of these wonderful remnants of Moorish occupation as a backdrop.
The Cathedral – see wikipedia for more info. This gem was never finished. Originally, it was to have two towers, but lack of funds doomed the second tower. It is now known as the one-armed lady. I used some of my new learned Lightroom skills to create this slideshow. Enjoy. Oh, forgive me – I used the Monserrat boys choir for the clip.
