Not a terribly exciting courthouse – but it has the bones – and you can see them. Whether the county ever decides that it’s worth restoration, well, that remains to be seen. Of note in the court room were the judge’s bench – nice wood work and the rail dividing the court area from the courtroom seating. The railing looks original. The courtroom also has some posts that appear to hold up what was once the upper seating. Outside, there were some interesting details. The most exciting part of the visit was the tour of the courtroom supplied by County Judge Terri Beth Carter. That was one thing that really stood out in our upper Panhandle trip – the openess and availability of important county officials.
