Our trip to Blenheim Palace was a bit marred by the extraordinary crowds brought in by an untimely (for us) triathlon being held on the grounds in front of the Palace. Lots of bikes – some construction on the building all made for a less than appealing exterior. The interior, however made up for this. This wasn’t my first visit to Blenheim – but it’s so overwhelming that it felt new again. Blenheim Palace is the home to the Dukes of Marlborough, ancestral home of Winston Churchill, the only non-royal home to be called a palace in England and overall – certainly one of the largest homes of England.
This was the first of our two planned visits to Oxford. Generally, we just walked around – walking into some of the colleges that were open, taking in the street scenes of Oxford (obviously it was gay pride day), and visiting a couple of the finest museums Oxford has to offer – The Museum of Natural History, the Pitts-River Museum and the Ashmolean. Could spend days in this city
