While it was a long day – by cruise standards – it was not enough time to even begin getting into and discovering Lisbon (Lisboa). We spent the morning in Belem, the afternoon in Lisbon – and finished the day off dinner at Time Out Market with friends who traveled in from Cascais. We were able to get in one of the miradoura’s (view points) that can be found throughout Lisbon – as Lisbon is said to be built on 7 hills. We also were able to visit a few of the many splendid churches of Lisbon. As a nation of explorers – such as the famed Vasco de Gama, Lisbon had riches to pour into its churches – and they are almost all worth a visit today. The only things we missed were: a fado show, a visit to one of the many palaces, riding a tram or funicular, a day trip to Sintra, a visit to Cascais, etc. etc. Obviously, it would nice to visit for a little more than a day!
