Belém

While not having much time to visit the Belém area of Lisbon – we were able to see the interior of the church of the Jerónimos Monastery (the lines to get into to the monastery itself were quite long). The church is very impressive and is the final resting spot for Vasco de Gama. We walked around the Monument of Discoveries, as well as the impressive Belém Tower. And we finished our time in Belem with some pastéis de Belém (or pastéis de nata) – a Portuguese cream pastry said to have been first made and served in Belem in 1837. Belém also holds many museums, including your next stop – the Carriage Museum.
