I tried posting this last Sunday, but Bluehost was ‘acting up’, so I put it into draft and didn’t get it posted until today. I will say – IT RAINED THIS MORNING!!!!!!! Unbelievable. While the rain was spotty, it rained a lot in some places, including over our house. I really think that keeping a blog up by phone is very doable, so updating from the road looks bright for the future (see Blogging on the Road). I have to figure out pictures – but I think I can take a photo or two with the phone and upload – and then upload the slideshows when I get home. The weather is getting a little better, so hopefully we’ll start hitting the road a little more. We have a few trips already planned for the DFW area, as well as the Houston area – both later this year. In the meantime, I still have about 40 counties I can upload.
Here’s the late posting:
Sorry for missing my post yesterday (weekly – Sunday post), but the loft is getting done and the grass is mostly green. That’s saying a lot on both those points. The loft’s needed cleaning out for a few years now and the drought here is getting beyond epic. Lucky for us, the SA Water board has done a good job adding additional supplies of water to this part of Texas. But the wild fires are getting scary.
Llano County – we went to Black Rock Park (LCRA park), where we’ve stayed before. It’s on a lake and we remember it as being so green. Well, you’d be hard pressed to find any green right now. And really, you’d need to take a nice long hike to find a lake. I’ve taken some pictures of the park and the ‘lake’ – so check that out on my Black Rock posting.
I headed into Llano on our arrival to hopefully get inside of the courthouse – as well as take pictures of the updated courthouse tower and the restored courtroom. So check out the Llano County Update page. I also wanted to locate and photograph the historic Llano County Jail – “Big Red”. I also took photos of the town square of Llano – something I wasn’t doing when we first visited in 2004.
Finally, we took a drive to visit a few of the many vineyards in the area. I think there’s about 30 wineries in the Hill Country of Texas, and a lot of them are around where were staying. I’ve posted a few pics from that activity as well in Wineries of Texas.
