St. Mary's - Victoria, Texas
We spent the last day in Victoria relaxing, not really doing too much. We did visit St. Mary’s – the second oldest parish in Texas (behind San Fernando in San Antonio). We also tried to take a historic home auto tour – but the signs were not helpful enough. Suffice to say, Victoria is full of historic homes and buildings. Well worth a visit (along with its’ super courthouse).
Art Car
While driving back, we noticed an event of some kind going on – something to do with cars. We stopped and walked over. It was art cars. Pretty amazing really. I’ll post pictures later.

Hey Tom, sorry it took so long to catch up with you—after my trip to ABQ, a friend’s mom became ill, and we have all been taking turns staying with her at the hosp. Very pleased that she has stabilized, and we are breathing a sigh of relief at this point.
Seeing Victoria pics brought back memories. My family lived in Victoria when I was 13-14 yrs old, and I took my driving test down at the courthouse. At that time (back in the dark ages), you were permitted to get a license at 14—which I did the week after my birthday (and after attending class in the summer). A friend of mine whose driving skills needed a little more development kept messing up on that driving test—-they kept sending her home for more practice, until finally, she completely RAN OVER a parking meter at the courthouse—they said, “Go back to class and do not come back for at least 6 months!”
Anyhow, I have great memories of Victoria and some really nice people I knew there. Beautiful old homes downtown—an amazing park with the Guadalupe rolling through on its way to the coast.
Love your project and will check in regularly. I noticed the other day that the Texas Historical Society had some beautiful pics of courthouses.
