Impression – I am quickly becoming a big fan of the beaux arts style, and this building doesn’t harm that. What is probably most noteworthy about this particular building is the fact that it is almost the exact twin of the courthouse in Richmond (Fort Bend County). That courthouse was also built by the Page Bros. – go figure. The characteristic rotunda and the tile work all blend to make this a charming edition of beaux arts. What it may be missing is the awesome stained glass found in other beaux arts courthouses (Colorado County, Cameron County, etc.)
We photographed this beauty on a trailer trip to Wimberly. Wimberly is a charming hill country village close to San Marcos and not too far from Austin. It is also the home of our friends – Ricky and Terri. So this made a nice trip from San Antonio.
