County seat – McKinney
built – sometime between 2007 & 2010
no other details available.
Collin county has an historic county courthouse on the square in downtown McKinney, but neither the county court (county admin) nor circuit courts (criminal) meet in this building anymore – therefore you can find that under Historic Collin County Courthouse. Actually, the old courthouse is now a museum and a performing arts center.
The new courthouse is modern, with classic revial touches. I personally thought it was well done and has to rank among the top 5 of all courthouses done in the modern era (since the 1940’s). It has a large dome overlooking the entry rotunda and lots of light, marble and small stylish details. The outside includes some hints of classical columns and two arbors curling up to the front on each side. All in all, not bad.
