Nice looking courthouse in a small East Texas Town. Groveton (name for the grove of trees it was established in) was once a prosperous lumber mill town. Once the mill shut down, Groveton shrank.
The courthouse really is an early 1900’s beauty. The graceful classic style, the redbrick, the side doors and the columns – along with a wonderful woody setting all combine to create a unique courthouse. However, if you look closely – especially at the close ups of the doors – the courthouse was in sore need of updating. That was accomplished in 2012 and the Trinity County Courthouse is on our revisit list (hopefully someday that will happen).
