Well, this courthouse was a mixed bag. First – it’s a jewel as designed by W C Dodson. You walk into the foyer and it’s got one of those spectacular stained glass domes way up there. But the courthouse, as a functioning part of the county’s business, is sorely overcrowded and in need of restoration. Just to get to a rest room requires going through a maze of boxes and desks and downstairs – or going outside and reentering the building from another door. Lots of wood paneling, which probably looked great in the 50’s. Still – it is a jewel and I have hopes that they’ll soon do it justice with the restoration it richly deserves.
Did you notice the blueprint for the building of the courthouse. It is an architectual drawing of the proposed courthouse – complete with the hanging from the central tower!
