Eldorado (el do rA do) is a sleepy west Texsas town. As with most of these communities, they mostly exist to supply local ranches. Unless, of course there’s oil around – but that’s not the case here. The courthouse has a nice setting, with lots of shade for the summer heat. While it needs restoration, it has a charm and unity in style that is timeless. The architect – Henry Phelps, worked on quite a few Texas courthouses in the early parts of the 20th century. He was a San Antonio architect, if I remember correctly.
