Interesting building located catty-corner from the courthouse. Building was built in the 30’s by Johnson Construction company from Waco and designed by Birch Easterwood. The interest in the building is in the entrances – there are two main entrances with one being denoted with the inscription “Jail” over the door. The eastern door is more ornate – bordering on Moorish & Regal. The door marked as ‘Jail’ is more art deco in design. The building is still in use – as a justice of the Peace court. The current jail sits behind and attached to this building.
