There’s nothing wrong with the exterior. In fact, there’s some real detail work decorating this early 1900’s courthouse. It could maybe use a little updating, but it’s still standing proud and strong.
And well it should. Entering the foyer takes you into an entirely different realm. The 5 or 6 story tower soars over the middle of the foyer with tons of marble, iron works and tiled floor. When you look up you will see probably the single most stunning point of visual interest in all of Texas’ 254 courthouses. The stained glsss tower is difficult to describe and even more difficult to capture in film – but please believe me, this foyer is worth the trip. If you’re making a list of courthouses to not miss, put the Johnson County Courthouse on your list. This has to rank in the top 25 in the state.
