Like a few other jails of the time (1893) this one has the ‘look’ of a house. It has a porch and style remininscent of farmhouses of the late 1800’s. Of course, the rear part looks a bit bigger, maybe like a schoolhouse – with bars! This one was designed by the well-known courthouse architect – W C Dodson. The same as the county courthouse. I guess they got a discount for 2 buildings? The jail was retired in 1984 and is now a County Museum.
