I really liked this courthouse – especially as an example of the moderne style. It has the Eagles which are well stylized. Lots of architetectual points of interest on the outside. And it’s a little unusual with the use of rusticated limestone. Most buildings of this era were much smoother. Each exterior entrance has a clock place above it. They do not work – and all seem to have stopped at 5:00 (am or pm?).
Inside – not too much exciting. It does have a nice clock piece hanging in the center of the first floor. Unlike the exterior clocks – this one works. The courtroom has some nice woodwork, behind the judge bench and the wainscoting around the room. There were a few unusual features in the courtroom. The witness stand was on the opposite side of the jury. And where most courtrooms have 2 rows of six juror chairs – this courtroom has 3 rows of 4 chairs.
