Wow – what a great find! A jail straight out of the 30’s – vintage Bonnie & Clyde. The building is currently serving as the home of the Carrizo Springs chamber of Commerce. They’ve gone to some lengths to protect some original aspects to the jail. They still have photo area – with the height chart. There are still some of the cells – and original art work done by residents unknown. You will even see some bullet holes as you are escorted around this little gem. Infamous Texas felon – Henry Lee Lucas even spent one night in the front cell.
Crystal City ? It is the chamber of commerce for the town this jail is located in , Carrizo Springs . Crystal City is located 9 miles away and in Zavala County. This jail has seen alot of action . At least in the 80s and 90s when it was still in operation and I was growing up in that town.

Thank you for your correction. I certainly know the difference between Carrizo and Crystal – and the natural rivalry that exists between the similar-sized towns that lie only 9 miles apart. Why I would have done this is well beyond me – perhaps age?
